Sage can make you smarter, no matter what your age

If you’re looking to boost your brain or fight off the effects of aging, sage may just be what you’re looking for.

A 2003 study published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics found that sage extract was extremely beneficial for preserving and improving cognitive abilities. The study featured men and women between ages 65 and 80 with Alzheimer’s disease. All participants who received sage extract had significantly improved memories by the end of the study and had much better memories than their placebo-receiving counterparts.

A study in Life Extension Magazine published in 2015 found that even healthy older adults experienced great cognitive benefits from taking sage. In fact, these adults showed much better cognitive functions and had better attention spans throughout the day. Meanwhile, those who were not given sage actually experienced mental decline. Even young adults have been shown to experience an increased ability to recall information when given sage extract.

The health and medicinal benefits of sage are quite impressive, but this new information really takes the cake.
