Seaweed that fights cancer

Japanese brown seaweed may be the answer to cancer prevention.

Consumption of brown seaweed has been shown to fight inflammation and disease, but why? A compound called fucoidan has been found in the seaweed, and studies have shown that it is the source of brown seaweeds myriad of health benefits.

Fucoidan has been found in several seaweed species but brown seaweed is the most well known source. Numerous studies have found that fucoidan can slow down and even stop the spread of cancer cells. This prevents metastasis from happening, which is one of the most lethal parts about cancer.

Fucoidan also slows down the multiplication of cancer cells, which means the immune system is better able to fight them off. It’s also been found to induce cancer cell death, reducing the number of cancer cells in the body as well.

Overall fucoidan fights against cancer by slowing down cancer cell growth and multiplication, and enhancing the immune system’s ability to fight back against cancer cells.
